This is my marimba quartet arrangement of K.K. Chorale from Animal Crossing. This arrangement is specifically based on the Aircheck and Music Box versions of the song. ** Get This Arrangement ** Streaming: https://song.link/vronmedia-kkchorale2024 One semester when I was in college, our percussion ensemble played a chorale originally written for strings but played every part on marimba. Obviously none of the rolls were written out, so when we asked where we should roll our professor told us to figure it out ourselves and it was basically an exercise in building musicality. I took a similar approach with this arrangement! I didn't write out any rolls or dynamics, I just put the notes in each part and then figured out the rest when I went to record. This was a little tricky at first since playing slow music like this is much easier with a live ensemble than it is with a click track by yourself, but I persevered and I'm extremely happy with how this turned out! Since I already covered the live version of this song a few years ago, I wanted to make sure this arrangement focused on the aircheck version. Since the aircheck version is fairly short, I played through it four times and tried to change it up a little each time. The first time through I basically just played it as transcribed, the second time through I added in a fourth part, and the third time through I messed with the chords a bit (thank you Dad for the suggestions that I added in!). The fourth time through is specifically based on the music box version - I took everything up an octave and didn't roll a single note, giving it a little bit more space and simplicity (and a little extra reverb haha) as music box versions of the K.K. Slider songs tend to do. Of course I put Purrl, Cookie, and Chevre in the thumbnail because this song plays in all their houses (in at least one of the AC games)! This is my family arrangement of the Toy Day theme from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. ** Get This Arrangement ** Streaming: https://song.link/vronmedia-acnhtoyday I'm very fortunate to be in a family of musicians, so of course I wanted to get them involved in a special holiday VGM cover! The first half of this arrangement sticks to the snowy ACNH version of this theme, then the second half introduces drums/auxiliary inspired by the sunny ACNH version. I had a lot of fun setting up the lights around the instruments (especially trying to get them to stay on the drum set every time I hit the bass drum lol). It's always fun recording videos inside the house because who knows how the cats are going to react. Mel ran off as soon as Mom started playing the higher flute parts and Bridget was confused because I moved the cat tower away from the window. JC tried to appear in Mom's video (by trying to eat the Christmas tree of course), but sadly she was just beneath the camera's range. Maybe next time one of the cats will make it into the video! This is my four-mallet vibraphone arrangement of K.K. Lullaby from Animal Crossing. So a re-re-recording, huh? Let me explain: The first time I recorded this was on an iPhone 8 camera with literally no audio recording equipment, just the iPhone mic, so yeah the audio quality wasn't the highest quality. The second time I recorded it was audio-only on the VibeKAT for streaming services, but I'd just gotten it and thought "mixing" was just "adding reverb" and calling it a day... yeah that's a big yikes, too. Can't believe that's my second-most streamed song on Spotify when it isn't even that good by my current standards... So here we are in 2022 and I've recorded this arrangement for the third time (whoo), but hey this is the best one yet by far so we take those wins. I have a real vibraphone, proper recording equipment, and sheet music for the exact arrangement I played is available right now! Seemed like the perfect time for recording this! This is my arrangement of the Museum theme from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as included on the charity album "VGM CON Album Jam, Vol. 2," featuring SableProvidence and Warp Whistles Music! All arranging, recording, and audio mixing was started and completed during VGM CON. Special thanks to Warp Whistles Music and SableProvidence for joining me on this track! They both hopped into the Discord channel and volunteered to play for the arrangement. I was already excited to have real bass clarinet doots from Warp Whistles Music, then SableProvidence offered to play bass flute - which I thought was super cool considering I'd never actually seen a bass flute before (I'd only heard of them as if they were a myth haha). Needless to say, overall this was a very positive virtual VGM CON experience! Credit where credit is due, this upbeat arrangement of this tune wasn't originally my idea (it was Allen's from GameGrooves), but I took over relatively early during VGM CON and ran with it. I had a ton of fun stacking on all the auxiliary percussion and mallet parts, truly putting my own spin on it. After all the initial parts were recorded, Warp Whistles Music and SableProvidence both improvised some extra bass clarinet/bass flute notes that made it into the final version. This is my arrangement of Stale Cupcakes from Animal Crossing: City Folk, inspired by the aircheck version of this song. **** Get This Arrangement **** Streaming: https://album.link/vronmedia-cozycovers-vol2 I finally, finally, FINALLY upgraded from GarageBand to Logic Pro! If you can't tell, I'm very excited to finally upgrade my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation, aka what I use to record and mix my audio)! Did you know I covered this song back in 2019? It was the first cover I ever recorded on the VibeKAT and I've really wanted to re-record it ever since I got my new instruments. I wanted to start out with a simple cover to get to work in Logic, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so! Okay I might've just wanted an excuse to mess around with different kinds of reverb because that's a thing I can do now, but that's okay because it's still good practice haha. The 2019 video has like 300 views or something, but that song is my most streamed song on Spotify by literally THOUSANDS of streams - last I checked it had 40K streams while the next highest, K.K. Lullaby, had 14K streams - so I wanted to give it another chance with my YouTube audience now that I have nicer instruments, better recording equipment, and a new DAW. I think I'm going to wait a while before I upload this to streaming services. I really want to re-record more of my older arrangements on the new instruments, so I'm going to wait until I have enough to release a Year 1/Season One (since my year 1 is more like three years) compilation album or something like that. Don't worry, I'm not going to spend too much time on older arrangements; this is the only song I'm planning on doing a whole new video for. Any other re-recorded arrangements will be in addition to the weekly upload schedule and they'll be in the form of audio-only extended versions. There have been a fair amount requests for extended version videos, so this is my excuse to finally make that happen! I can literally see all the sleep playlists the original version of this cover was added to on Spotify, so I'll be releasing an extended version of this cover on Wednesday for you to listen to here on YouTube! This has nothing to do with music, but I feel like it's important to mention: I just crafted those cupcakes in the end screen right before taking that video, so none of the cupcakes in this video were stale! This is my arrangement of the Igloo theme from Animal Crossing! You can hear a different take on this theme in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but this arrangement is based on the original version from the GameCube. Welcome to day one of 12 Days of VGM!
